| On a visit
to any transmission shop in North
America, you would be hard-pressed
not to find at least a few of the
familiar yellow-orange packaged
products from Teckpak Fitzall.
For the past 15 years or so,
Teckpak has gained their fame for
filling the role as the
transmission aftermarket's source
for hard-to-find solutions to
transmission-repair problems.
Founder Roger Swenson explains
that it is the company's
philosophy to supply products
that represent solutions to
common and not-so-common
transmission-shop installation
and rebuilding problems.
Roger is proud of his nearly 35
years in the transmission
aftermarket, beginning with a
shop in the Saint Louis, Missouri
area. The operation now includes
three facilities in the southeast
Missouri town of Poplar Bluff.
The main manufacturing facility
houses facilities for fabricating
metal and plastic parts used in
the company's products. A
recently expanded solenoid-assembly
facility is just north of Poplar
Bluff. The headquarters building
houses offices for administrative
and sales personnel, shipping
operations, warehouse space, and
assembly and packaging lines for
products other than solenoids.
Also at Teckpak's headquarters is
a five-bay transmission shop with
a sign proclaiming: "America's
Transmission Physician".
The shop was the original Poplar
Bluff business location opened by
the Swenson's in 1978. Roger
Swenson's wife, Eunice, says that
operating the shop keeps Teckpak
constantly aware of the
difficulties and problems that
its customers face every day.
Teckpak has always been, and
continues to be, focused on
providing solutions for our
customers in the transmission
business.
In addition to Eunice Swenson,
two of the Swensons' four
children are integral to
Teckpak's operations. Roger
Swenson Jr. is finishing his
thesis for a master's degree in
engineering. Roger Jr. has worked
in a number of positions with the
company, currently overseeing the
company's new product development
and many of the manufacturing
processes. Ronda Swenson is well
known in the industry, as she
tirelessly travels nearly 40
weekends a year to show Teckpak's
product lines at trade shows,
seminars, open houses and other
industry events throughout North
America.
